The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to begin the long-distance high-speed Vande Bharat Express train service in Uttar Pradesh (UP) on August 31, linking Lucknow and Meerut. The train scheduled to connect Meerut and Lucknow will be officially started by the Prime Minister on Saturday, as Railway officials have mentioned on Thursday.
The train will pass through two major cities during the trip, such as Moradabad and Bareilly. Its first journey will depart from Meerut City at 6:35 A.M. and arrive in Lucknow approximately one hour and forty-five minutes later. This seven-hour trip will feature stops at Moradabad and Bareilly junctions, each lasting five minutes.
Meerut, situated near Delhi-NCR, the heart of numerous business activities, has stood at the forefront of the government’s push for infrastructure development. An advanced rail line connecting Meerut and Ghaziabad has been met with enthusiasm from local business leaders. The introduction of another Vande Bharat train will significantly boost railway services in Uttar Pradesh, increasing the current express train count to 11.
Rail transportation in Tripura and Mizoram has been halted for a week because of floods and landslides. The rivers in Tripura and Mizoram have caused extensive harm to the tracks, leading to the cancellation of all train services for around five days. As of August 21st, regular trains and the Kanchanjunga Express have been put on hold. Efforts are currently being made to fix the damages, but the interruption has affected transportation, resulting in a lack of fuel and necessary supplies in the impacted areas.
The ten Vande Bharat coaches that are currently in use in Uttar Pradesh span various routes such as Patna-Gomtinagar, Varanasi-Delhi, Varanasi-Ranchi, Lucknow, Dehradun, Anand Vihar-Ayodhya, Anand Vihar-Dehradun, Gorakhpur-Prayagraj, and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Habibganj. In addition to Meerut-Lucknow, Prime Minister Modi plans to officially announce two more Vande Bharat trains on Saturday. These trains will be the Chennai-Nagercoil Vande Bharat express train and the Bengaluru-Madurai Vande Bharat express train.
Significantly, the Vande Bharat Express trains are a collection of trains designed and built in India, focusing on improving the comfort and convenience of passengers. These advanced trains are outfitted with the latest features, offering travelers a quicker and more comfortable journey.
These trains have dramatically transformed the journey experience in India over the past few years. The collection of Vande Bharat trains has surpassed the 50 mark, and there are bold plans to introduce Vande Bharat sleeper coaches and Vande Bharat Metro trains in the upcoming months.
