Bihar’s first Sports Academy and Sports University were inaugurated on Thursday by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Sports Day celebration at the International Sports Complex in Rajgir.

Constructed on an expansive 90-acre site and erected with a budget of ₹740 crore, the International Sports Complex stands as the sole sports facility in the nation capable of offering training in 24 different sports disciplines at the same time. On this campus, athletes will have access to all amenities, including facilities for training, housing, and medical care, all in one place.
In 2007, Kumar declared plans to build a Sports Academy at Rajgir. This complex will encompass a primary cricket stadium, in addition to eight smaller fields, a premier sports library, and facilities for a range of sports. The primary stadium is designed to hold approximately 50,000 spectators, with the smaller fields accommodating around 10,000 spectators each.
