BITS Pilani appoints Professor Souri Banerjee as new director for Dubai campus, details here

BITS Pilani has named Prof. Souri Banerjee as its newest Director for the Dubai campus.

Prof Banerjee took up his position in August 2024 and is set to hold the role of Director at the BITS Pilani, Dubai campus for the forthcoming five years, succeeding Prof Srinivasan Madapusi, who has been in the position since July 2021.

A statement from the BITS Pilani announced that Prof. Banerjee embarked on his career at the BITS Pilani Pilani campus in 2024.

Additionally, IIM Lucknow has launched a Center of Excellence in Blockchain Technology with the goal of supporting 100 startups throughout Uttar Pradesh.

In 2008, he became the first head of the Physics department at the Hyderabad branch. Subsequently, Prof. Banerjee assumed the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in 2013 and eventually rose to the position of Dean for Faculty Affairs in 2018.

Professor Banerjee has enjoyed a successful career by holding numerous postdoctoral roles at the University of Electro-Communications and the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan.

He held a position as a Visiting Professor at the University of Electro-Communications. Additionally, he worked as a Research Scientist at the Central Research Laboratory in Tokyo.

Banerjee received his doctoral degree in Condensed Matter Physics from the Indian Association for Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, in 1997.
