Director Fede Álvarez pushed the boundaries of the CGI-dominated Alien franchise in the most recent sci-fi-horror movie. While Ridley Scott had a reputation for his flawless VFX work in the 1979 series, Fede chose to use an actual 7-foot-7-inch tall human giant for a pivotal scene in Alien: Romulus. The director ultimately found an actor from Romania, Robert Bobroczkyi, who plays the role of the new terrifying character – The Offspring. At a towering 7 feet 7 inches, Robert ranks among the world’s tallest individuals. His massive stature commanded attention from viewers in movie theaters. An online footage of the athlete-turned-theater star engaging with the team before a daring scene became an internet sensation.
In response to the movie, a viewer stated, “This is amazing. Definitely has a lot of unusual body image issues but is turning them into something awesome! Lament the lack of realness in movies!” Someone else responded, “This guy in ridiculous (and terrifying) high-quality makeup and outfit just casually chatting with the crew is giving me chills.” A devoted follower commented, “I dislike computer-generated imagery, but I like this.” Another follower expressed, “Thrived with this film!”

In an interview with Variety, the film’s visual effects guru, Daniel Macarin, shared, “The explanation they gave was that you’re supposed to conjure up an image in your mind, not knowing the director’s approach to bringing this character to life. Will it resemble a Xenomorph? Or will it have a completely distinct look? Might it introduce something entirely novel? Witnessing it for the first time, we saw this towering actor, at 7 feet, adorned in costume, and it sent shivers down our spines. The execution of the character’s appearance and mannerisms was so flawless that every contribution we made felt like it was enhancing its essence.”
Visitor from another world: The seventh part of the Alien series is a collaborative effort by Fede and Rodo Sayagues. It unfolds between the occurrences of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), marking its place in the larger franchise. The film highlights performances by Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu in key roles. This sci-fi horror thriller is a joint project between Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill.
