IIT Bombay yearly placements 2023-24: The total number of students secured opportunities drops significantly from the previous year.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) disclosed its yearly employment statistics, which kicked off on July 2023 and concluded on July 7th, 2024.

Based on the comprehensive job placement report from the institution, there has been a noticeable decrease in the number of students recruited this year when compared to the figures from the previous year. The institution reported that 1516 students secured positions in the 2022-2023 academic year, with a decrease to 1475 this academic year.

The majority of the students who didn’t find jobs have pinpointed paths for secure employment. A portion of these students lean towards pursuing advanced degrees, starting their own businesses, or becoming self-employed rather than accepting the employment opportunities presented to them. Nearly every company involved in the survey has kept up with their job commitments.

A total of 2414 students registered for the job placement session, with 1979 students taking part in the event. In all, 1475 job offers were secured from the 364 companies who were willing to hire the students.

Several areas of expertise like Fundamental Engineering, IT, Programming, Research and Innovation, Advisory Services, Financial Services, Banking, Sophisticated Technology, and Services-based Services attended the job fair by the institute, as detailed by IIT Bombay.

Additionally, three-fourths of the students from IIT Bombay have obtained job offers for the academic year 2023-2024.

According to the data presented by the institution, students pursuing B.Tech degrees were offered more employment opportunities than those in other programs. Out of the 738 male B.Tech students who applied for jobs, 531 secured positions. Likewise, among the 192 female B.Tech students who applied, 152 were offered jobs. In a similar vein, those with Dual Degree programs (B.Tech. + M.Tech) saw 124 males and 28 females secure positions, while the M.Tech program itself resulted in jobs for 355 males and 60 females.

Examining the count of organizations hiring students via Campus Placements at IIT Bombay over the past seven years, the figure has risen significantly. Starting from 294 companies in the 2016-2017 academic year, up to the most recent placement event in 2023-2024, a total of 364 companies have engaged in recruiting students from the institute.
