A Teachers’ Day Event Turned Upset: Two primary school educators detained in Goa face charges for violently attacking a 9-year-old student, details provided below.

The law enforcement in Goa have detained two educators, Sujal Gawade and Kanisha Gadekar, on charges of allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old student, who sustained injuries due to the aggressive beating he endured.

The kid, attending classes at Shree Saraswati Vidya Mandir Primary School, a public school with government assistance, was allegedly assaulted with a steel ruler for tearing out the pages of his book.

The Police have charged the two educators with offenses under Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, Section 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act, and other corresponding sections of BNS. “The educators have been formally detained,” the Deputy Superintendent of Police announced.

The event occurred on August 2, but was revealed to the public that evening as the child’s dad, who works as a rickshaw puller, made his way back home. The complaint was lodged the next day after that.

The learner suffered wounds on his hands, legs, thighs, and back and is presently receiving medical care. The grievance, presented by the child’s father, also alleges that he received a beating on his stomach and had his face forcefully pulled across a blackboard by his ear.

Earlier, during a Goa meeting, the incumbent Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who holds the position of education minister as well, showed sorrow over the event and pledged to take steps towards rectifying it.

“The education and police departments will both implement measures,” the Chief Minister stated.
